SALES POLICY AND DESIGNER APPLICATION

Please read the following policy and and fill out the form below to do business with Resource Room Interior Design Center.

SALES POLICY

Registration
 

  • The Resource Room, Inc. is an exclusive wholesale showroom, to the trade only. We are not open to the public. Sales to non-related persons or businesses are also not permitted. We service designers only.
     

  • We do not charge a membership fee. However, you must meet certain criteria to become a member.
     

  • As a potential new member of The Resource Room, you must present at least two of the following when submitting your application:

    • A valid Missouri state tax resale certificate.

    • Bank affiliation (voided check or deposit slip).

    • Show proof of intent to resale merchandise (business card or letterhead).

    • Affiliation of membership to design organization.

Customer Benefits
 

  • A facility for you – the designer. Please make yourself comfortable. You are welcome to spread your project out on one of the worktables and stay all day. A color photocopier is provided for your use with discretion. We do allow designers to bring their clients into the showroom. However, we do ask that your clients only utilize the showroom when they are accompanied by you. If your client must be here without you, permission must be granted before they can do so.
     

  • An extended library. We meet regularly with our representatives who update us with the latest books, furniture trends and accessories available. We provide current price lists and catalogs for your use. We are constantly receiving new products. If you have a request to carry anything new, just ask a Resource Room staff member.
     

  • Customer service to save you time. The Resource Room staff is available Monday-Friday, 9am - 5pm to assist you in ordering memo samples, placing orders, answering product questions, checking on order status, etc. We are here for you.
     

  • Pricing is available for the designer. We always quote to you the retail price and let you know what your discount will be for each vendor. The merchandise on the showroom floor is always priced with a 50% discount.  Your discount is quoted only to you, please don’t ask us to quote your customer.  This protects you, the designer.
     

  • A showroom that is clean, clutter-free and clearly organized. We make sure that the library is well-stocked with the newest books. We have all our vendors set up in a particular location accompanied by a sign. If you cannot find something, just ask a Resource Room staff member to assist you.
     

  • A warehouse to receive, inspect and store your orders, handle freight claims, coordinate customer deliveries, etc.

How to place orders
 

  • All orders will be placed within 24 hours by one of the following:

    • A faxed or emailed receipt of the sales order that bears the signature of the designer ordering the product(s).

    • A written order with complete details given to a staff member at The Resource Room.

    • Please know that we do not take orders over the phone. All orders must be in writing.
       

  • All orders must be paid in full before the order can be placed.

Check out/Check in procedures
 

  • All fabric, trim and wallpaper books can be checked out for a maximum of two weeks. A check out form will be filled out verifying the items that were checked out to you. The form will include the date, the designer & company name and a complete list of items with the manufacturer/supplier name, book name/number, or fabric name/number.
     

  • Due to shortage of catalogs and to better serve all designers, catalogs that are not returned within 48 hours will be charged a fee of $5 per day to your account (fabric and wallpaper books are the exception). Let a Resource Room staff member know what samples you have brought back and we will check them in. Please notify us if you need an extension.
     

  • We will also order memo samples for you and mail them directly to you. You will be invoiced for any memos for which we are billed. Please ask about charges before ordering.

Terms of Sale
 

  • We only accept payments from you, the designer. We can accept your client’s checks or credit cards; however, the transactions need to go through you. Please schedule delivery/pickup within 30 days. 
     

  • Any returned check will incur a $35 service charge.
     

  • Sales tax on out-of-state shipments may apply and is the responsibility of the designer.
     

  • For the designer’s protection, any problems or questions will be handled between the designer and The Resource Room. Please do not have your client call us for service.
     

  • Unless otherwise stated, prices quoted at the time of a purchase do not include any freight or fuel surcharges. Those charges will be added to your invoice upon arrival of the product to The Resource Room. We can call for a freight estimate, but know that it is just that, an estimate, and prices are subject to change. There is a minimum freight charge of $28 on fabric, trim and wall coverings.
     

  • For drop shipments, the designer is responsible for receiving, inspecting and filing any freight claims. We will assist the designer but are not responsible for any shipping problems. Extra charges for drop shipments may apply depending on vendor. All damages must be written on the bill of lading before you sign it to make a freight claim.

Product Specific Sales Policy
 

  • Sample books will be priced with retail prices good at time received only, unless noted otherwise. As manufacturer prices are subject to change, individual selections should be checked in price books to confirm current price. A Resource Room staff member will be happy to assist you with pricing.
     

  • Please be considerate of others and take only what you need and return it on time. When a sample is not returned, this delays its use for other designers.
     

  • When requesting that a memo sample be ordered, you must provide the vendor, item name or number, and color name or number along with your firm’s information on the sample request form. A copy of this record will be given to you along with pricing if requested. We will have the memo sample sent to your business or home address. Some companies take their time sending out memos, please be patient with this matter.
     

  • Memo samples are available for all fabrics and trims offered by the lines, which we represent. Some companies require that the memo samples be returned after a period not to exceed 30 days. It is imperative that you return the memo samples in a timely manner to avoid any charges. From time to time, popular patterns may be out of stock and only cuttings are available. If you need to keep a sample permanently for your files, please talk with our staff about doing so
    .

  • Upon returning samples, please indicate your name and the number of samples being returned so we can credit your account accordingly. All memo samples should be returned in good condition with the labels intact.
     

  • Fabric books, hanging fabrics, carpet books and area rug corner samples are available to loan for two weeks only.
     

  • Trim books and wall covering books are available to loan for one week only.
     

  • Authorized returns of merchandise must be made within 30 days of original order. Do not open or cut wall covering, fabric or carpet. You must bring the items to be returned back to The Resource Room in its original box or packaging. The Resource Room will call and get a call tag number or return authorization number from the company and return the merchandise for you. Some merchandise being sent back may incur a restocking fee. If that is the case, we will invoice you for that amount. There may also be a charge to ship the item back. We will inform you if that charge applies.

Furniture and Accessories
 

  • All merchandise will be priced at a Suggested Retail selling price (usually provided by the manufacturer). The Resource Room, Inc. does not determine what price you sell to your customer.
     

  • We prefer that the furniture and accessory catalogs not leave The Resource Room. We are more than happy to make you a colored copy of anything you would need to show your client from the catalogs. Permission must be granted if a catalog is to be taken out of The Resource Room. The catalog must be returned the following day.
     

  • The Resource Room does have a warehouse to receive, inspect and make freight claims. Unfortunately, we do not offer a delivery service. All deliveries can be arranged through an outside source and we can provide you with some companies to call. All charges for delivery will be handled by you and the delivery company. We encourage you to set up your own deliveries. We just ask that you call and let us know the date and time that the delivery will take place. We will oversee that all merchandise is loaded properly on the truck. However, we are more than happy for you to be here to oversee the loading of the furniture if you are able. Pickup hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
     

  • The Resource Room will store your paid purchases for up to 30 days in our warehouse. After the initial 30 days, a storage fee of $20.00 per item will be charged for each month that the merchandise is in the warehouse.
     

  • If you prefer to have your merchandise drop shipped, you are responsible for receiving, inspecting and handling any freight claims. Some companies will not do a drop shipment or may have additional shipping charges; please inquire beforehand.
     

  • All orders require payment in full. Cancellation of the order is possible ONLY if the order can be canceled in time with the company. The return of special order merchandise is not typically allowed.
     

  • Items on the showroom floor may be taken out on approval for up to five days only. Accessories not returned within this time or returned damaged will be considered “sold.” No exceptions.  A credit card deposit is required on all merchandise taken and will be charged after 10 days.

All future purchases from you (unless otherwise specified on purchase order) will be for resale or for use as an ingredient of a manufactured product. If he/she uses any property purchased tax free under the certificate, in any manner other than as stated above, he/she becomes the user or consumer thereof, and he/she agrees to pay the taxes thereon to the state and city.
